Emerging Talent Awards Shortlisted Nominees
The Awards are about recognising and rewarding the achievements of those at the beginning of their career in the sector and form part of Industry Day's third seminar session, Emerging Talent Awards: meet the new stars of the stone industry, on Wednesday 7 June. This will be hosted by leading broadcaster and sustainability commentator Susannah Streeter and culminates with the award presentation.
Matthew Kaye
Banker Mason -
Boden & Ward Stonemasons
Nominated by Ben Richards, Director
Matt has worked hard since joining Boden & Ward as a qualified Banker Mason 18 months ago. He has progressed in his ability to lead a team on a larger, more complex site and become an invaluable part of the company. Over the past six months, he has led a small team undertaking sometimes complex and evolving repair and restoration works to a historic building where Boden & Ward is a subcontractor and Matt is the main site contact for the main contractor, architects and other trades. He communicates clearly and knowledgably to all these partners and also to the Boden & Ward management and yard teams, ensuring the correct materials and resources are when and where they are needed. Matt often has to record areas of stonework to ensure they are accurately and sympathetically repaired to the highest standard while retaining as much of the existing fabric as possible. Matt’s precision is vital to the success of the project and is proven in the quality of the work produced. There is often a need to search out the best way to undertake repairs so that maintain structural integrity does not compromise the appearance of the building. Matt is able to do this using both his own knowledge, skills and initiative and through effective communication with the management team, seeking advice and guidance when required.
