Senior Building Conservation Advisor, Historic England

Clara Willett has almost 30 years’ experience in architectural conservation; first as a hands-on conservator and manager in private practice and then with Historic England (formerly English Heritage) since 2003. As a building conservation advisor in the Technical Conservation Team she leads on masonry conservation advice and research, as well as contributing to guidance and training on the same topic. For 6 years, she managed a national training scheme, which provided on the job training in traditional building skills. She managed the Strategic Stone Study project to complete the Building Stones Database for England. Clara is a member of the Churches Building Council’s Sculpture and Furnishings committee and the Stone Federation’s Heritage Stone Group. She is an accredited member of Icon and the IHBC.
