Dr Stephen Parry

Petrologist, British Geological Survey

Steve Parry is a petrologist with the British Geological Survey and based at the organization’s Nottinghamshire headquarters. He is the Survey’s ‘building stones officer’, with responsibility for building stone-related matters within England and Wales. Steve’s work focuses on the repair and conservation of historic structures, ranging from rural cottages to stately homes, cathedrals, castles and seats of government. 

Steve was awarded a BSc Honours Degree in 1999 and PhD in 2004, both in Geology and both by the University of Aberdeen. He is a hard rock petrologist and isotope geochemist by training. Steve assumed his current role in 2008.
