Natural Stone Awards project profiles: landscaping

01-May-2019

Deansgate Metro Station, Castlefield - David Green, SimpsonHaugh & Partners

Located in the heart of Manchester, this project sought to create a distinctive and unique Metrolink stop set within a landscaped park.  The project contractor, Laing O’Rourke working alongside the stone supplier, Burlington Stone and Hardscape Products Ltd created an addition to the city that is a wonderful celebration of the use of stone in landscaping.  This project was the 2016 Natural Stone Awards Landscape Winner.

Douglas Town Centre - Andy Thomson, BCA Landscape

This project is founded on an Island-wide concept that aspires to link regenerated towns to a potential growth in the Manx economy.  It utilised a well-researched portfolio of various colours and materials based on the Island’s natural hues.  The stonework, a mix of Chinese Granites supplied by Hardscape Products Ltd, brings brightness and light to the Island’s capital and was the 2014 Natural Stone Awards Landscape Winner.

Exhibition Road, London - Gordon Hines, Marshalls Natural Stone

Located in the heart of London, this project features a bold diamond motif creating a distinctive visual identity for the street.  A unique solution to the various usage requirements of the space was found in utilising the layout of the various Chinese Granites supplied by Marshalls Natural Stone., instead of kerbs or street signs.
