Natural Stone Awards project profiles: British stone
14 Grosvenor Square, London - Tim Must, Squire & Partners
Located in the heart of London's Mayfair, this contemporary office building utilised natural stone to tie into the existing street scape. The project utilised two types of Portland stone, supplied by Albion Stone, and is a great example of simple yet elegant use of natural stone.
131 Sloane Street, London - Mike Stiff, Stiff + Trevillion
The result of a design completion held by the Cadogan estate, this London development involved the replacement of two 1960s office buildings with a new retail and office-led development. The new building primarily uses red Locharbriggs sandstone supplied by Marshalls Stancliffe Stone. This project was Highly Commended in the 2016 Natural Stone Awards New Build Modern Style Stone Cladding category.
Silberrad Student Centre, Colchester - Roger Meyer, Patel Taylor
Part of the University of Essex, this project brief called for a single building to extend the existing Albert Sloman library and provide a range of new facilities. The use of Ancaster Weatherbed Mix supplied by RGB Ltd creates a calm backdrop for the activities undertaken in the student centre. This project was Commended in the 2016 Natural Stone Awards New Build Modern Style Stone Cladding category.
